It's "Never Enough"
I just finished “Never Enough: From Barista to Billionaire” by Andrew Wilkinson.
Andrew went from a college-dropout-barista, to a legit (on-paper) billionaire in ~15 years. Throughout the journey he continued to chase purpose, peace, and happiness.
He observed countless millionaires and billionaires (himself included) who always wanted more - usually somewhere between 2 and 10x as much money as they currently had.
No matter how much money they had, it was "Never Enough".
And when you’re feeling like it’s not enough, you won’t be happy. Because…
“Desire is a contract you make with yourself to be unhappy until you get what you want.”
– Naval Ravikant
So, my biggest lesson from the book is that if you can’t learn to be happy “now,” then you’ll never be happy.
The goal post will move.
The mirage will keep disappearing as you approach it.
You’ll chase happiness your entire life.
And then you’ll realize that you had enough all along, if only you’d stopped to enjoy it.
I’m building No Story Lost right now, and we’ve grown a lot over the past year.
From time to time we have a quiet month, and it all feels like despair (every entrepreneur knows what I’m talking about).
So I feel the pressure, and I’m looking towards the future, for when we’re “big enough that I’ll be happy.”
And then I catch myself and realize that it’ll never be “enough” …
Unless you can realize it’s “enough” today. Now.
So, on the heels a slow month …
“It’s enough.”
